The Falls Bridge is a steel Pratt truss bridge that spans the Schuylkill River in Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It connects Kelly (formerly East River) Drive at Calumet Street with Martin Luther King, Jr. (formerly West River) Drive at Neill Drive. It replaced a wooden covered bridge at the same site.

Falls Bridge in the East Falls section of Philadelphia East Falls (also The Falls, formerly the Falls of Schuylkill) is a neighborhood in Lower Northwest, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. It lies on the east bank of the "Falls of the Schuylkill," cataracts submerged in 1822 by the Schuylkill Canal and Fairmount Water Works projects.

First up for designation consideration was Falls Bridge, nominated by the East Falls Historical Society. Built in 1894 and designed by George S. Webster, the structure uses a variation of the Pratt Truss called the Baltimore Petite Truss. The Petite Truss is much stronger than a standard Truss bridge due to additional auxiliary sub struts.

Updated on May 12, 2021 Share this article! The Falls Bridge, crossing the Schuylkill River between Kelly and MLK drives, was completed in 1896. Tens of thousands of people either cross or pass by it every day, and it is, perhaps, East Falls most prominent landmark.
